Our Garage Strength Barbell is an ideal solution for smaller training areas where optimising space is key. At 183.5cm in length, this barbell will allow you to continue your weight training without any compromise.

The Garage Strength Barbell weighs in at 15kg but remains long enough to fit into most standard rigs, power cages and squat racks, remaining versatile for all aspects of your lifting.

This barbell uses a black E-coating, (harder wearing than black oxide, chrome and zinc) which is corrosion resistant, environmentally friendly and economical. E-Coating is the process of electrically applying a paint finish to metals. The end result is a hard-wearing, durable and safe finish which effectively resists oxidation and corrosion from water, sunlight and household chemicals.

Well designed but flawed

Cannot submit a two star review, so changed it to three.

Order and delivery was easy and timely.

The advertised length measurements are exact, and very well balanced to be as short as possible but as long as needed. I am very happy with this part of the product.

The specific barbell I received had a few significant dents. Nothing beyond what would occur with a couple of miss-racks, however not a nice experience out of the box.

The knurling is advertised as "coarse". There is a small area, perhaps 4 centimeters, on one side of the barbell where this is true. The rest of the length however, the knurling is so shallow as to be merely cosmetic. That is to say, it is both insufficient and inconsistent.

The look of the barbell is nice. The chrome of the sleeves is acceptable, and the sleeves themselves are machined to be smooth rather than with that light straight-knurl that adds a bit of friction-resistance and that ziiiip-noise to some sleeves. I prefer smooth so this is a plus.

The black paint is evenly and nicely applied, but chipped when I applied the hooks for my suspension scales. This may be an unreasonable test of how hard wearing it is, as the hooks have a slight edge. It may indeed be hard wearing in regular use.

The weight of my unit is approx 15.160 grams. That puts it within a 2% tolerance (on the heavy side), which is certainly acceptable at this price point.
The shaft is Ø27.8mm, so a bit on the thinner side.
The sleeves have very little give along the length of the shaft, but do not fit snugly around the shaft, so there is more give between the sleeve and shaft than you might expect.

TLDR:
This bar, while by no means high end in feel, has perfect measurements for training within a constrained space. However a QC-issue with the knurling prevents me from recommending this product even at this price.

Awesome barbell

Probably the best low-budget garage barbell out there. I like the fact that the length of the sleeves has been increased so that there is enough space for plates. Yet, you might want to make sure the sleeves are long enough for your plates before buying. (mind the collars).

Even though the bar is not supposed for weightlifting, the sleeves spin suffiently smoothly for snatches and cleans.

Excellent barbell

Best value for money barbell, the size is good for home use and the e-coat Shaft looks nice. The order from strength shop was on time, i would buy again for sure.
